Faktorie Gallery

Faktorie Gallery was a Toronto-based artist-run contemporary art space that left its mark on the city's indie art scene during the mid-to-late 1990s. Known for championing emerging Canadian talent, the gallery hosted two-person shows and group exhibitions that gave early platforms to artists who went on to build significant careers.
Artists who exhibited at Faktorie include printmaker Susan Collett ("Pillow Talk"), interdisciplinary artist Tania Love ("Return of the Gods"), painters John Ford and Ronald Zerafa, Nancy Kembry, Brian Flynn ("Inheritance"), Suzanne Nacha, and many others.
In 1998, Faktorie was also a participating venue in the second year of the CONTACT Photography Festival, which had launched in 1997 and has since grown into a worldwide cultural event.
The gallery ran alongside other foundational Toronto spaces of that era and remains a notable chapter in the city's artist-run culture.
